Specifi® has custom solutions for each role and user that participates in the specification, design, installation and quoting of a commercial food service facility. Specifi® Cloud and planning tools are a great way for a sales representative to capture the ideas and needs of a customer. Once the plan is created Designers, Project Managers, Manufacturing representatives and sales agents can use the Specifi® Design and Quote solutions to create architectural designs, installation plans, mechanical schedules and 3D renderings of the facility. Sales agents can use these designs to automatically create a quote, bid or tender and ensure that any modifications are synchronized. Finally, Specifi®’s entire platform is based on flexible, accurate architectural symbols and content that we manage for over 300 Food and Catering Equipment manufacturers across the globe.

Specifi® is a set of software tools and services created especially for the commercial food service industry. Specifi® allows industry professionals to plan, design, quote and install commercial foodservice and catering facilities in a third of the time.

Miniumum Requirements

If you would like to run Specifi® Design Plugin on an Apple Macintosh you must install a Windows virtualization application (eg: Parallels) and then one of the compatible Windows Operating Systems.

The Specifi® Design Plugin is compatible with the following Operating Systems:

  • Windows 11 64 bit
  • Windows 10 64 bit

Specifi® Design Plugin is compatible with AutoCAD® from 2019 to 2024 (excluding LT versions), Revit® 2019 to 2024 (excluding LT versions) AutoCAD® Mechanical, Map3D, Architecture or other Autodesk® Suites that include the AutoCAD® product inside them are not certified because compatibility tests are performed with standard AutoCAD® versions.

The following are the minimum requirements for Specifi® Design Plugin, they are consistent with Autodesk® products minimum requirements:

  • CPU Processor: Intel® i7 or i9
  • RAM: 16GB or more
  • GPU: Dedicated Direct3D graphics card with minimum capacity 4GB (suggested GPU compatible with AutoCAD®/Revit®)
  • 1280 x 1024 32-bit color video display adapter (True Color)
  • 2GB of hard disk available not including libraries installation (The same requirements also for Specifi® Design Plus CAD engine)

Yes, Specifi® Design Plugin can be installed with Specifi® Design Plus CAD engine. If you don’t have an AutoCAD® license compatible with Specifi®, you can install first Specifi® Design Plus OEM CAD engine and then the Specifi® Design Plugin.

Specifi® Quote Cloud is a web based software and it requires Internet connection. Specifi® Design Plugin is installed locally into the PC and it does not require constant internet access to operate. It requires Internet connection only at startup (login), and to insert equipment from web catalog or to synchronize the drawing with the quotation, as Quote module is web base. Specifi® Design and Quote Legacy do not require constant internet access to operate. Only for the installation and to run Specifi® LiveUpdate in order to install the official library updates of manufacturer catalogues.

Yes, as AutoCAD® uses profiles for its configuration, you can simply create your own AutoCAD® profile and then add a shortcut on your desktop that permits to run AutoCAD® with your custom profile. Please refer to this guide that explains how to create a custom profile in AutoCAD®: https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2019/ENU/?guid=GUID-CB60992E-EC8F-4DBA-BC35-98BB411A188C In order to create the shortcut on your desktop: right-clicking on the AutoCAD icon, select Properties, and then verify that the Target item is labeled as /p [profile name] immediately after the AutoCAD® executable file path.

Software Management

For Specifi Cloud products you can open a support ticket from the Help menu and then selecting the option “Send a feedback”. Also, you can get support by filling out a request form here https://en.specifiglobal.com/support/. Your request form will be sent to our Technical Assistance Department and they will contact you as soon as possible.

Specifi® Design and Quote Desktop have a per user license subscription. The software can be installed and run into a single PC per time. If necessary it’s possible to move the software and license from an old pc to a new one. For this kind of request please contact our Technical Support.
Specifi® Design Plugin Cloud and Quote Cloud give the possibility to install and use the same user credentials on 2 PCs, but not at the same time.
For additional licenses of Specifi®, please contact our Sales Department.

Yes, for Specifi® Desktop products we offer Client/Server configuration, that permits to store the Specifi® database, libraries and projects with drawings and offers into your local server and share the information with the client PCs where Specifi® Design or Quote software has been installed. Specifi® Cloud products instead have database, libraries and projects stored in a dedicated Specifi® web server and permits the Specifi® users of the same company to share their data.

Specifi® Design and Quote Desktop users can go integrate their internal management by creating a custom application (additional service on request). Specifi® Cloud apps instead can be integrated through Specifi API. For more information visit: https://en.specifiglobal.com/products/specifi-api/

The libraries of Specifi® manufacturer partners are available for free, and can be distributed by each supplier approval. You have just to request the authorization for each library, logging in at https://libraries.specifiglobal.com/partners/request-foodservice-equipment-libraries/ with the Specifi® credentials you received.

The catalog is the property of the manufacturer. Specifi® is under contract to adhere to the manufacturer’s guidelines. Specifi® encourages all manufacturers to provide as much public access as possible; however manufacturers make their own business rules. When you request access to a library the manufacturer is notified immediately and on average manufacturers respond with authorizations in 3 days.

Each manufacturer makes this decision based upon the markets they currently operate and do business. Specifi® was developed to accommodate as many languages as the manufacturer is willing to publish in the system.

Each manufacturer employs a different update strategy, however Specifi makes sure that any updates made by the manufacturer are immediately made available to Specifi® Users.

If you have been authorized to a specific library by the manufacturer, in case of Specifi® Desktop you can run LiveUpdate from the desktop. It is a synchronization agent, installed with Specifi®, that ensures you have all the latest released pricing and product information. In case of Specifi® Cloud products, you can find all the library updates already available.

Specifi® permits to create and manage custom libraries. You have the option of creating your own personal library and create a subset of that manufacturer’s catalog on your own. This library feature includes all of the symbols, technical information and pricing that you would find in a manufacturer published catalog.

Published libraries and catalogs are not modifiable and are authorized by the manufacturer. Consequently, basic data cannot be edited. A user is able to change some product data but only as part of a single design or bid.

No, the generation of technical legends is automatic. Each item inserted into the drawing contains all the technical and commercial information, and they will be reported automatically into the schedule or exported to the offer.

Specifi® lets you create fast and easy rendering. The rendering quality depends on the CAD application that you use as well as the user’s experience with other factors (such as light position, room size, etc.).

If the library is incomplete and a block is missing, Specifi® will automatically generate blocks of the indicated size. The blocks will be simple cubes to specify the maximum volumetric footprint that the equipment can have.

Yes, if you have Specifi® Design module, you can import the item data from the offer, running Offer Synchronization command. Specifi® will give you the sequence of blocks to insert into the drawing in the same order as the offer.
